We’re proud of the service that we provide to many of our happy customers, here’s a case study from one of our power generation clients.
Our client was the world’s first Shariah-compliant data centre fund, and has formed a joint venture with a leading telecommunications company to own, managing and operate a data centre in Sydney.
The client’s system design included 3 x 2,500 kVA Kohler industrial standby diesel generators, with the first two units needing to be on-line for stage one 4 months after the order confirmation, just before Christmas 2011. In order to meet the tight delivery, CAPS flew two generators from France to Australia immediately after the customer witnessed a factory test in mid-March 2012. The whole system was fully tested onsite, witnessed by the customer again less than two months later. CAPS performed a full turnkey installation including the heat exchangers, remote cooling radiators on the roof, water pumps and piping. To meet the project’s tight deadline, CAPS and Kohler arranged for the project to be fully commissioned in phase 1 within 4 months, as committed. CAPS completed stage 2 for the third generator in early 2013, as per the customer’s program.
The solution used the Kohler KERYS controller to synchronise with the utility mains ensures a constant and reliable source of power when the generator sets take over supply from the utility mains and when utility power is restored. In order to improve the reliability of the generator starting, each engine was fitted with two sets of starting motors and individual batteries.
To reduce noise from the generator sets, a full acoustic installation including noise attenuators and seismic restraint AV mounts was configured to house the units.
