Cairns North QLD Australia
Complete design and manufacture in compliance with Australian standards for emergency power supply at Cairns Base Hospital.
The Power generation system had to meet the following criteria.
3x
KX2200C 2200kVA Power Generators
2x
30,000 litre fuel tanks
48
hours of use
CAPS designed and installed a complete solution to meet the requirements for an emergency power supply by providing three KX2200C Kohler generators, a customised control panel, a complete sound attenuation system, a remote water cooling system with radiators and two 30,000 litre fuel tanks.
The three generators, equipped with MTU engines, were synchronised together to provide a reliable N+1 backup system. The engines were specifically chosen for their low emissions, low fuel consumption, and strong reliability. Each generator was connected to a transformer and step up to 22 kV. To provide a high level of control and to ensure the reliability of the system, a control panel was tailored for this project.
Noise levels were reduced by using residential noise silencers. The water cooling system was installed on the roof to assist with meeting the noise level requirements and to integrate the solution into the available space. Two 30,000 litre fuel tanks were also installed to meet the 48 hour autonomy requirement.
This project required strong engineering expertise to achieve all the specifications needed for a hospital backup system.
CAPS developed a complete turnkey solution from the project design through to the installation. The project was supported by the guarantee of 24/7 service and an extensive maintenance package was provided to assure the customer they are backed up by a reliable partner.
